Grant Specialist

Katherine is the grant specialist at Ed Trust. She helps manage the organization’s multitude of grants across all offices and track spending. Additionally, she maintains the grant management and accounting systems.

Previously, Katherine spent two years in administration at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and then two years in the department of Earth & Planetary Sciences at Harvard University, where she focused on grant preparation and management. As an English major with a love of writing, she realized that the way to overcome her fear of numbers was to build her career around them.

A native of Boston, Katherine holds a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University and a bachelor’s degree in English from Bates College.

What’s your favorite thing to do outside of work?
Lifting weights, embarking on ambitious cooking projects, and taking drives out of the city during the fall.

What are people most surprised to learn about you?
I spent a year after college living in South Korea and teaching English to elementary school students (which was harder than it sounds).

What drew you to education?
Education is both lifechanging and inaccessible to many. As someone who has been very privileged in my educational journey, I feel it’s my duty to help lower the barriers of entry with any talents and experience that I can bring to the table.

Why are you passionate about working at Ed Trust?
I’m inspired every day to see everyone at Ed Trust excel in their own areas and work toward a common goal. It seems huge and daunting, but working here has really taught me to appreciate the little wins because of how much closer they bring us to accomplishing our aims.
