Employer Matching Gifts

Many companies match donations that their employees make, multiplying the impact of your gift to Ed Trust.

Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees, retirees and/or employees’ spouses. About 65 percent of Fortune 500 Companies offer matching gift programs and over 18 million individuals work for companies with matching gift programs. If your company offers a charitable matching gift program, you may initiate the matching gift through your company.

Taking advantage of this employment benefit will increase the value and impact of your donation. See if your employer participates in a matching program.

Donor-Advised Funds

Donor-Advised Funds (DAF) allow donors to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction and recommend grants from the fund.

Donor-Advised Funds (DAF) are a tax-efficient way to manage charitable donations. DAFs allow donors to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants from the fund over time.

Ed Trust partners with some of the largest DAF sponsor organizations for donors to easily make secure gift recommendations from their DAF. Clients of BNY Mellon, Fidelity Charitable and Schwab Charitable can make a designation through the DAF Direct window on this page.

The Education Trust’s tax I.D. number is 52-1982223.

Stock Transfers

You can increase your potential impact—and experience significant tax savings—by gifting appreciated assets.

Giving a non-cash asset can be a more effective way to donate for individuals who own stock. If you own stock for more than a year that has increased in value, you will receive a tax deduction for its fair market value when you donate it to Ed Trust.

You will avoid paying capital gains tax while advancing equitable education policies for students of color and students from low-income backgrounds.

Please contact Rachel Stalcup, Chief Development Officer, through the contact form here or call 202.293.1217 to donate via a stock transfer.
