Texas Policy Associate
One of the newest official members of The Education Trust Texas’ team is Alexa Garza as Texas Policy Associate. An alumna of Ed Trust’s inaugural Justice Fellows Policy Program, Alexa will be advancing our agenda to improve access to college and workforce opportunities for current and formerly incarcerated Texans. Alexa’s passion for advocacy is rooted in her personal experience of incarceration and the stigma she faced in her community upon release. She will continue to use her story and research to change the narrative around incarceration and advocate for policies that expand educational opportunities for all Texans who come into contact with the justice system, especially women.
Alexa earned a B.A. in Business Administration from Tarleton State University and completed certification through the Library of Congress as a braille transcriber. Alexa enjoys spending time with her family and fishing. Her fiancé taught her how to fish and now she catches more fish than him.
